The Barn at Stratford historically stabled draft horses. Join us to make articulated paper horse puppets and play a game of horseshoes. Did you know that the Barn at Stratford stabled many draft horses - Belgians, Percherons, and Clydesdales - throughout the 19th and 20th centuries? As we prepare for the annual Delaware Horse Parade and Brown Jug Horse Race at the Delaware County Fair, we’ll create our own articulated paper horse puppets, similar to popular 1800’s moving paper toys. Try your skill with a lawn game of horseshoes. Fun Fact: Horseshoe pitching was a favorite sport of both President Truman and George H. W. Bush. This is a free event, but donations are always appreciated as they help with our museum operating costs. If you sign up, but your plans change, please let us know at kerrcindy@msn.com. This will free up a space for another participant and allow the program presenters to prepare the proper amount of materials.
